STATEMENT OF FAITH

Light Gate Church has adopted the following statement of Faith as its standard and official expression of its doctrine.

THE SCRIPTURES

All scriptures is given by inspiration of God by which we understand that there is no bible prophecy produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

We, therefore, believe that scriptures were inspired by God and declare His designed and plan for mankind. In both the Old and the New Testament (66books) scriptures are inspired of God and are the revelation of God to man and the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct.

Biblical Ref: 2 Peter 1: 20-21; 2 Timothy 3:13-17; 1Thessalonians2:13; 1 Corinthians 15:1-2

GODHEAD (TRINITY)

The Godhead exists eternally in three persons; The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are one God having the same nature and attributes and are worthy of the same homage, confidence, and obedience.

The Father exists eternally as the creator of heaven and earth, the giver of the law, to whom all things will be subjected, so that He will be all in all.

Biblical RefIsaiah 43:10-11; Deuteronomy 6:4

We believe in the creator and the supreme being of the lord Jesus, the eternal and only begotten son of the Father conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary. Jesus is both human and divine and by His sinless life, miracles and teachings gave full revelation of the Father. He died upon the cross and justified the unjust as the substitution sacrifice. He rose from the dead is now at the right hand of the Father on high as our great High priest. He will come again to establish His Kingdom in righteousness and Peace.

Biblical Ref: Mathew 1:23; Hebrews 7:26; 1 Peter 2:22; Acts2:22; Acts 10:38; 1 Corinthians 15:3; Mathew 28:6; 1corinthians 15:4; Acts1:9-11; Philippians 2: 9- 11; Hebrews 7:24-25; Matthew 25:31; Acts 1:9-11

The Holy Spirit is also God, performing actions and possessing the attributes of the Deity. His personality is shown by the fact that He has personal characteristics and that individuals may relate to Him as person.

Biblical Ref: John 16:13-14; Acts 5:3-4

THE FALL OF MAN

We believe that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for forgiveness of sin. Man was created upright and perfect in the image and likeness of God. However, by voluntary transgression fell and there by incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death, which ultimately brought about separation from God.

Biblical Ref: Romans 3:23; Genesis 1:26-27; Genesis 2:17; Genesis 3:6-7; Romans 5:12-21

SALVATION OF MAN

We believe that every person can have a restored fellowship with God through Salvation, Justification and Regeneration. Furthermore, we believe that the new birth is brought by faith though the blood of Jesus Christ. We believe that man’s hope of redemption is obtained through the shed blood of Jesus Christ the son of God.

Biblical Ref: John 3:16; Romans 10:8-13; 1corinthians 15:3-4; Acts 26:18; Titus 2:11; Ephesians 4:24; Galatians 5:22; Romans 8:16; Acts 4:12

THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is a special experience following Salvation. That it is for the empowerment of the believers for witnessing and effective service just as it did in the New Testament times. Among the physical manifestation of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is the evidence of speaking in tongues.

Biblical Ref: Acts 1:8-10; Acts 2:1-8, Acts 2:38-39, Acts 19:6; 1 Corinthians 14:14-18

THE CHURCH

We believe that the Church is a body of believers in Christ Jesus who have joined together to function as part of the body of Christ worldwide. The church is an assembly of believers who confess their faith in Jesus Christ. The doctrines of the church are based upon the teachings of Jesus Christ. The mission of the church is to seek and save all who are lost in sin, and to be the light and salt of the world. Every believer born of the Spirit is an integral part of the General Assembly and the church of the first born which are written in heaven.

Biblical Ref: Ephesians1:22-23; Ephesian 2:22; Acts 2:41-42; 1Corinthians10:16-17; Hebrews 12:23; Ephesians4:8-13

THE FIVE-FOLD MINISTRY

We believe in the five-fold Ministry. The five-fold Ministry is still working today. We believe that the offices of the Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor and Teacher were given by God to equip the Church for the performing of the saints, the work of the edifying of the body of Christ.

Biblical Ref: Ephesians 4:11-16

ORDINANCES

The Lord’s Supper is a symbol, memorial and proclamation of the suffering and death of our Lord Jesus Christ. This ordinance of communion is to be participated in by believers until Christ’s return.

Biblical Ref: Matthew 26:26-28; 1 Corinthians 11:23-27; Acts 20:7; Luke 22:19-20

We believe that water baptism signifies the believer’s identification with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection and is practiced by immersion.

Biblical RefMatthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:38; Romans 6:3-5; Mark 16:15-16; 1 Corinthians 12:13

A divinely called and ordained ministry is the provision of the Lord to give leadership to the church as it fulfills its purposes.

Biblical Ref: Acts 6:2-4; Ephesians 4:8-13; Acts 13:2-4; Acts 14:23

PRACTICES & POSITIONS

Marriage is a Provision of God wherein one man and one woman to the exclusion of all others enter into a lifelong relationship through a marriage ceremony that is recognized by the church and legally sanctioned by the state.

Biblical Ref: Genesis 2:18; Malachi 2:15; Matthew 19:5; 1 Corinthians 7:2-5

We believe in the Millennial Reign of Christ Jesus. We believe that Jesus Christ will return with His saints at His second coming and begin His benevolent rule over the earth for 1,000 years. This Millennial Reign will bring the Salvation of natural Israel and the establishment of the Universal peace.

Biblical RefRevelation 1:7; Revelation 19:11-14; Revelation 20:1-6; Psalm 72:38; Isaiah 11:6-9; Micah 4:3-4; Zachariah 14:5; Mathew 24:27; Mathew 24:30

We believe that final judgment will take place. It is at this judgment where the wicked dead will be raised and judged according to their works. And whosoever is found not written in the Book of Life, together with the devil and his angels, the beast and the false prophets will be cast to the everlasting punishment in the lake of fire and brimstone, which is the second death.
